The Umbral guitar duo, consists of Ignacio Correa and Sebastián Segarra and was formed in 2006 when together with Sergio Fernández Cabrera they worked on a few performances of chamber music.
These two Uruguayan guitarists want to spread Latin American music to the world and they have found their niche as musicians with a repertoire that requires both academic discipline and a serious approach to the style of folk art.
In 2008 they received the prize by the Concours Funds awarded by the Ministry of Education and Culture, which gave them the opportunity of giving concerts throughout Uruguay. Their intensive touring schedule of the past few years has ensured them being able to develop their own sound. They received even more recognition for their work in their country, that included receiving scholarships from the National Music Fund (Fondo Nacional de Música).
